Ghanaian singer Sista Afia has opened up about her concerns surrounding motherhood, revealing that her biggest fear is becoming a single mother without the committed family life she has always hoped for.
The singer shared her thoughts in a post on X, where she reflected on the number of single mothers she sees among people of her generation.
“Seeing how many single mothers there are in this generation honestly scares me,” she wrote.
Sista Afia explained that she is not afraid of becoming a mother. Rather, her concern is the possibility of having a child without the love, commitment and stable family structure she envisions for herself.
“I’m not afraid of motherhood, but I’m afraid of becoming a single mother or just a ‘baby mama’ without the love, commitment, and family I always envisioned,” she added.
According to the singer, motherhood is about more than simply having a child. She hopes to raise a family within a loving and committed home.
“I want to build a home, not just have a child,” she stated.
Sista Afia further admitted that the thought of becoming a single mother or “baby mama” without the kind of family she desires is deeply unsettling for her.
“And honestly, that fear scares the hell out of me,” she wrote.
