Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) has won the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), defeating Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College in an exciting grand finale.
PRESEC-Legon emerged victorious with 40 points, followed by Accra Academy with 33 points, while St Augustine’s College finished third with 27 points.
The latest triumph gives PRESEC-Legon its ninth NSMQ title, further strengthening the school’s record as the most successful institution in the history of the competition.
The 2026 edition started with 174 schools competing for the coveted trophy, with PRESEC-Legon, Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College eventually advancing to the grand finale.
Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College made a strong start, both securing 11 points in the opening round, while PRESEC-Legon managed nine points.
However, PRESEC-Legon gradually turned the contest in its favour and moved into the lead by the third round. The school then extended its advantage after earning four points in the Problem of the Day, while both Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College failed to score in that section.
PRESEC-Legon held on to its advantage during the remaining rounds and eventually crossed the finish line with 40 points to claim the prestigious trophy.
The victory further adds to PRESEC-Legon’s impressive record in the NSMQ and reinforces the school’s dominance in one of Ghana’s most prestigious academic competitions.
