Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini has completed a season-long loan transfer to English Championship club Derby County from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise.
The deal, completed on September 1, 2026, will keep the 24-year-old at Derby until June 30, 2027, after which he is expected to return to Union Saint-Gilloise. The financial details of the loan have not been disclosed.
The Accra-born attacker arrives at Derby with significant experience in European football and an impressive list of domestic honours accumulated during his time in Belgium and Austria.
Fuseini was part of the Union Saint-Gilloise squad that secured the Belgian league title in the 2024-25 season. He later helped the club win the Belgian Cup in 2026 before adding another trophy to his collection with victory in the Belgian Super Cup at the start of the 2026-27 campaign.
Although he made only five appearances for Union this season before completing his move to England, Fuseini made his opportunities count. He scored once in two UEFA Champions League qualifying matches and provided an assist in two Jupiler Pro League appearances. He also recorded an assist in the Belgian Super Cup.
His transfer to Derby represents another important step in a European career that began in Austria.
Fuseini joined Sturm Graz from Ghanaian academy Right to Dream in February 2022. He initially played for Sturm Graz II before eventually breaking into the senior setup.
The 2023-24 campaign proved particularly successful for the Ghanaian, as he helped Sturm Graz win both the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup. He had also been part of the club’s Austrian Cup-winning team during the 2022-23 season. During the 2023-24 campaign, he spent a period on loan at Danish side Randers FC.
In July 2024, Union Saint-Gilloise secured Fuseini’s services from Sturm Graz for a reported €2 million, allowing him to continue his development in Belgium.
His latest move to Derby County now gives him the chance to test himself in the English Championship, where he will compete for regular playing time and look to strengthen Derby’s attacking options.
Fuseini is recognised for his pace, movement and versatility in attack. The right-footed forward, who stands at 1.69 metres, gives Derby an additional dynamic presence in the final third.
With league and cup-winning experience as well as exposure to European competition, Fuseini joins Derby with a growing profile despite his age.
He will now be hoping to settle quickly into English football, contribute goals and assists, and play an important role in Derby’s ambitions during the 2026-27 season.
For Ghana, the move represents another opportunity for one of the country’s emerging attacking talents to gain valuable experience in one of Europe’s most competitive second-tier leagues.
Fuseini’s loan spell at Derby County is scheduled to run until June 30, 2027.
