Inspector Hance Atubra of the Tarkwa Divisional Police Headquarters has been decorated with his new rank of Chief Inspector in recognition of his bravery during a fire outbreak at Aboso in the Western Region.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, formally decorated Inspector Atubra at the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Monday, August 31, 2026, following his promotion.
The promotion was granted to honour the officer for his courage and exceptional efforts in rescuing people and protecting property during the fire incident on August 26, 2026.
Commending Inspector Atubra, the IGP praised his prompt response, courage and commitment to duty at a time when lives and properties were at risk.
Mr Yohuno said the officer’s conduct reflected the core values of professionalism, courage and dedicated service expected of personnel of the Ghana Police Service.
Inspector Atubra’s actions during the incident earned him special recognition after he risked his own life to assist in saving others and preventing further destruction of property.
According to the Police Administration, the promotion demonstrates its commitment to rewarding officers who show exceptional courage, professionalism and dedication while performing their duties.
