Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed satisfaction with his first appearance for Al Shabab despite the Saudi Pro League side being held to a goalless draw by Al Khaleej.
The 33-year-old came on in the 58th minute, replacing Ali Al Asmari at the Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium, as he made his debut for Al Shabab following his move to the club as a free agent after leaving Spanish side Villarreal.
Partey added stability and composure to the midfield as Al Shabab pushed for a winning goal, but both teams struggled to find the breakthrough.
Reflecting on his debut, the Black Stars vice-captain said, “I think it’s amazing and I like it. It’s my first game here, and I thought we did great.”
He acknowledged that Al Shabab had opportunities to take all three points, adding, “We could have scored; we had a chance to score, but it’s part of football. We have to keep working hard and try to get three points in our next game.”
Partey also promised to give his best for his new club, saying, “I will do my best to give everything to this club, and I am really happy to be here.”
The result gave Al Shabab their first point of the season after they began their campaign with a 3-1 home defeat to Al Qadsiah.
Partey will now be hoping to earn his first start when Al Shabab face Al Riyadh at home later today at 18:00 GMT.
