8 injured after Toyota Hiace overturns on Tema–Akosombo highway.

    Eight people, including four children, were injured in a Tema–Akosombo Highway accident after a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle overturned at Teye-Kwame following a rear tyre burst.

    According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the accident occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, when the driver of the Toyota Hiace, with registration number GN 9112-25, lost control of the vehicle after one of its rear tyres burst, causing it to somersault.

    Firefighters from the Kpong Fire Station responded swiftly to the scene and rescued all eight occupants from the wreckage.

    The injured, made up of four adults and four children, were given emergency assistance before being transported to Kings and Queens Hospital at Akuse Junction for medical treatment.

    Following the incident, the GNFS urged motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy by carrying out regular maintenance, especially routine tyre inspections, to reduce the risk of similar accidents.
