The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned what it describes as widespread incidents of inducement and vote buying during its parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East constituency, announcing the immediate launch of investigations into the allegations.

In a statement issued on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the party’s national secretariat said its leadership had been alerted to reports that some aspirants allegedly engaged in bribery and inducement of delegates during the primaries held earlier in the day.

The party said such conduct runs contrary to its core values and principles, as well as the “reset agenda” it is currently promoting, and warned that it would not tolerate practices that undermine internal democracy.

According to the statement, the NDC has initiated a full-scale probe into the allegations and will take swift action against any individual found to have breached party rules. It added that sanctions could be severe, depending on the outcome of the investigations.

The party further cautioned that future incidents of a similar nature could attract even tougher measures, including the possible cancellation of internal elections where credible evidence of vote buying or inducement emerges.

The statement was signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, who reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to transparent and credible internal electoral processes.

The Ayawaso East constituency, located in Accra, has been one of the closely watched areas in the NDC’s internal elections, reflecting its strategic importance in national politics.
