Derrick Kohn Returns to Black Stars Squad for Asia Tour Friendlies

German Bundesliga side Union Berlin has confirmed that Ghanaian-German left-back Derrick Kohn has earned a call-up to the Black Stars for their upcoming international friendlies in Asia.

According to an official announcement by the club, Kohn has been invited for Ghana’s two friendlies against Japan and South Korea, which form part of the national team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Kohn, who previously received an invitation from head coach Otto Addo, was unable to make his debut for Ghana due to delays in completing his nationality switch. With the process now finalized, he is set to make his first official appearance for the national team.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to release the official squad list soon. However, several clubs have already disclosed that their players have been called up through internal communications.

The Black Stars will face Japan on Friday, November 14, in the Kirin Challenge Cup, before locking horns with South Korea four days later.

These matches are part of Ghana’s broader strategy to test new talents and build cohesion ahead of crucial qualifiers and the World Cup.
