Gov’t to Open Nationwide Recruitment into Police, Immigration, Prisons, and Fire Services on November 15

The Government of Ghana has announced that nationwide recruitment exercises for the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prisons Service, and Ghana National Fire Service will officially commence on Friday, November 15, 2025.
The decision follows months of internal consultations between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Finance, and the respective security agencies, aimed at strengthening national security operations and creating employment opportunities for qualified Ghanaian youth.
According to reliable government sources, the recruitment will cover general duties, tradesmen, and professional categories, with the objective of filling critical manpower gaps across all four security institutions. Applicants will be expected to purchase electronic recruitment vouchers from designated banks nationwide and complete the application process through the official government recruitment portal.
The Interior Minister, is expected to formally announce the recruitment guidelines and requirements in the coming days. The announcement will specify eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications, age limits, physical fitness standards, and regional distribution quotas.

This recruitment drive forms part of the government’s broader effort to improve public safety and enhance the operational capacity of the country’s security services. The Ghana Police Service, in particular, has been undergoing major reforms under the Police Transformation Agenda, aimed at restoring professionalism, accountability, and public trust in law enforcement.
Similarly, the Ghana Immigration Service continues to expand its border management operations in response to rising regional migration challenges, while the Prisons and Fire Services are expected to benefit from renewed logistical support and personnel training under the 2025 Security Sector Reform Programme.
The Ministry of Finance has reportedly granted financial clearance for the recruitment, paving the way for the process to begin smoothly. The clearance covers both new entrants and replacements for retired and deceased officers across the services.
The announcement has generated significant interest among job seekers across the country, particularly recent graduates and skilled youth looking to serve in the uniformed sector. Authorities have cautioned applicants to beware of fraudulent middlemen and unverified online platforms, emphasizing that all legitimate recruitment activities will be conducted strictly through official channels.

Once the recruitment window opens, shortlisted applicants will be invited for screening, aptitude tests, and medical examinations, before proceeding to the training phase at designated security academies.
The exercise marks one of the most anticipated government recruitment drives in recent years, reflecting the administration’s commitment to tackling unemployment and reinforcing Ghana’s internal security infrastructure ahead of the 2028 general elections.
