    Provisional Results Now Available

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). These results have been dispatched to schools through their Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Education Offices. Students can also access their scores online via the WAEC results portal using their index number and voucher details.

This year’s cohort saw 603,328 candidates (297,250 males, 306,078 females) from 20,395 schools participate in the examination across 2,237 test centres. 2,526 candidates were absent from the exam. The number includes 72 visually impaired, 239 hearing-impaired, and 161 with other special needs, underscoring the inclusive nature of the examination.

    Violations and Pending Investigations

WAEC revealed that 177 candidates had their entire results cancelled, and 718 faced subject-level cancellations due to confirmed malpractice. An additional 93 candidates had their whole results withheld, while 1,240 experienced subject-level withholding. Furthermore, 119 schools had subject results cancelled, and 87 schools are under scrutiny with withheld outcomes. These cases will be resolved by September 6, 2025, after further investigations conclude. The council cautioned stakeholders against fraudulent interference in results and emphasized the integrity of its processes.
