Former Kotoko and Black Stars coach returns to revive Phobians’ glory

Accra Hearts of Oak have officially named Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as the club’s new head coach, securing his services on a two-year contract as the team looks to bounce back from a trophyless 2024/25 season.

The appointment, announced on Friday, June 20, 2025, marks Dramani’s return to the Ghana Premier League after over a decade away. He replaces Aboubakar Ouattara, who departed following an underwhelming campaign that saw the Phobians finish fourth and crash out of the FA Cup in the Round of 16.

“I am honoured to join a great club like Hearts of Oak. My focus is on building a competitive and consistent team that reflects the club’s rich tradition,” Dramani said upon signing.

A decorated resume and national pedigree

Didi Dramani is no stranger to success in Ghanaian football. He led Asante Kotoko to back-to-back league titles and is remembered for his player development work at the Right to Dream Academy. His national team experience includes managing the Black Maidens, Black Queens, and serving as assistant coach for the Black Stars at both the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFCON.

His first test will be a high-stakes clash against his former club, Asante Kotoko, in the 2025 President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium next month — a fixture that could set the tone for his tenure.

Hearts fans will be hoping Dramani’s return to club management sparks a revival and ushers in a new era of consistency, style, and silverware.
