World Vision International has donated $30,000 worth of medical supplies to the Agortime Ziope Health Directorate. The donation reinforces the organisation’s long-standing commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children and fostering sustainable community development in Ghana.
The donated supplies, which include general medical tools, topical items, and laboratory equipment, are intended to strengthen the capacity of local health facilities to respond effectively to the health and nutritional needs of children and other vulnerable groups in the district.
With a 45-year legacy of humanitarian service in Ghana, World Vision has made significant contributions across sectors such as WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), health and nutrition, education, and livelihood empowerment. In Agortime Ziope alone, the organisation has worked for the past five years in close partnership with local authorities to drive long-term development.
At a brief handover ceremony, Eric Opoku Agyarko, Cluster Programmes Manager at World Vision, emphasized that the donation is part of a broader strategy to promote child well-being by building resilient healthcare systems.
“We believe that the well-being of children depends on equipping service providers with the knowledge, communication skills, and tools needed to deliver quality healthcare,” Agyarko said.
Receiving the items, Emmanuel Awine Ayamga, Agortime Ziope District Director of Health Services, expressed deep appreciation for the timely support.
“This donation will significantly improve primary healthcare delivery in our district, especially for children and vulnerable populations. We urge other organisations to follow this worthy example,” he stated.
The District Health Directorate also took the opportunity to call on NGOs, faith-based organisations, and individualsto emulate World Vision’s example and support rural healthcare initiatives across Ghana.
The supplies are expected to enhance the availability and quality of medical services, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes for the people of Agortime Ziope—particularly the children World Vision aims to protect and empower.
