FDA orders immediate withdrawal of 210g and 400g Tasty Tom cans following reports of bloating

Nutrifoods Ghana Recalls Tasty Tom Tomato Mix Over Safety Concerns

Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, the company behind the popular Tasty Tom range, has announced a voluntary recall of all batches of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix in 210g and 400g cans. The decision comes in response to multiple consumer complaints about bloated cans, raising concerns over product safety and quality.

The recall was prompted by a directive from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), which worked closely with National Security after receiving alerts from the public regarding unusual bloating in some Tasty Tom products on the market.

Public Health and Consumer Safety at the Forefront

In a public statement, Nutrifoods Ghana emphasized its commitment to consumer health and safety, adding that it is cooperating fully with the FDA to investigate the cause of the bloating. The company also assured the public that corrective measures are being put in place to prevent future occurrences.

The FDA has encouraged consumers who may have purchased the affected products to return them to the point of sale or contact their nearest FDA office for further guidance. Bloating in canned food is often associated with microbial contamination or gas buildup, making the recall a critical precautionary measure.
