Incident sparks public concern over on-set safety and professionalism in Nigeria’s film industry

Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has been hospitalised after reportedly receiving a forceful, unscripted kick to the chest from popular actor Zubby Michael during the filming of a movie. The incident, which occurred on set, has raised serious concerns about on-set safety protocols and professional conduct in the Nigerian film industry.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Zubby Michael is seen aggressively charging toward Nnadiekwe, leaping over a barricade and delivering what has been described as a “Kungfu-style” kick to his colleague’s chest before walking away without checking on him.

The victim, Godwin Nnadiekwe, later posted on Instagram describing the pain he endured. “During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director. It’s caused me serious pain. I had to get medication for my chest. I did all these by myself. No assistance!” he shared.

His management later confirmed that he was suffering from internal bleeding and is currently receiving medical attention.

The incident has triggered backlash online, with many fans and industry insiders demanding accountability. Critics have called for stricter on-set regulations and better enforcement of actor safety standards in Nollywood productions.

Zubby Michael has yet to issue a formal response or apology regarding the incident.
