The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has officially announced that it will begin reimbursing academic user fees for first-year students at public tertiary institutions starting June 2025. This initiative forms a key part of the government’s flagship “No-Fees-Stress” policy designed to enhance access to higher education and reduce the financial burden on Ghanaian families.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of the SLTF, Dr. Saajida Shiraz, the reimbursement will apply to first-year students enrolled in accredited diploma or degree programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year. She noted that the programme is focused on ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to tertiary education.

Dr. Shiraz emphasized that students must submit applications through the dedicated portal, nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh, which is designed to ensure transparency and ease of access. All entries will be validated against official enrollment data from public tertiary institutions.

This policy is expected to impact thousands of students nationwide, offering significant relief to families already grappling with economic challenges. The Ministry of Education and the SLTF have reiterated their commitment to ensuring equitable access to education for all qualified students, particularly those from underserved communities.

Students eligible for the reimbursement must ensure:

  • They are enrolled in public tertiary institutions for the 2024/2025 academic year.
  • They complete and submit the reimbursement form on the official portal.
  • They provide accurate documentation to facilitate the verification process.

The SLTF has urged all qualified students to apply promptly as the exercise officially begins in June.
