A press statement from the NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, confirmed that Ntim’s decision was temporary and does not signal a withdrawal from party activities. He is expected to return to the tour in due course, continuing to show gratitude to Ghanaians for their support during the 2024 elections.

Mixed Reactions Within the Party

The absence of the party’s National Chairman has sparked conversation among political watchers and members of the party. Former Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani raised concerns about Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leading the tour instead of the National Chairman. In an interview, Mpiani argued that the optics could raise questions of bias and favoritism within the party.

Tensions Surrounding the Tour

Ntim’s decision comes amid internal tensions, including the recent withdrawal of Kennedy Agyapong from the tour after a stabbing incident involving one of his supporters at an NPP event in Kumasi. This incident has raised security concerns and further amplified scrutiny over the party’s internal cohesion.

Tour Still On Track

Despite these developments, the NPP leadership insists that the “Thank You” tour will continue as scheduled, with Vice President Bawumia and other executives engaging party faithful across the regions.
