Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has stirred political tension after an old video resurfaced online in which he dared President John Dramani Mahama.
Wontumi Questions Presidential Authority
In the viral footage, Chairman Wontumi launched a scathing attack on President Mahama, referring to him in demeaning terms and questioning his authority. He boldly declared that the former president should be afraid of him, describing himself as “unstoppable.”
“Are you not afraid of me?” Wontumi questioned in the video, sending a direct challenge to the president.
The video, though recorded some time ago, has resurfaced amid rising public concern over Akonta Mining—an operation linked to Chairman Wontumi—accused of contributing to environmental damage and illegal mining activities.
Daring the Commander-In-Chief
Going a step further, Chairman Wontumi dared President Mahama to send military forces to confront him directly. He boasted that even if Mahama came with soldiers, he would not be able to stop him or affect Akonta Mining’s operations.
