Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC and the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has hit back at legal threats issued by Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a senior advisor to former President John Dramani Mahama.

The escalating dispute follows accusations from Mogtari’s legal team that Abronye made defamatory and baseless claims against her in a televised interview.

Abronye Dismisses Lawsuit, Calls It a Social Media Stunt

Reacting to the legal notice, Abronye brushed off the seriousness of the case, stating that it would likely play out on social media rather than in court.

“She even made a mistake; she should have asked for GH₵100 million,” he mocked. “What exactly is her role at the Jubilee House that earns her GH₵95,000?”

Allegations of Lavish Salary and Lifestyle Surface

During an interview on Wontumi TV on April 7, 2025, Abronye accused Mogtari of rejecting a ministerial appointment in favor of a less demanding role at the presidency, allegedly earning her a GH₵95,000 monthly salary.

He questioned the legitimacy of her income and lifestyle, demanding that she provide evidence—such as receipts and financial records—if the matter proceeds to court.

Abronye Demands Proof of Purchases and Position

The NPP official stated that if legal action moves forward, he would request documentation detailing Mogtari’s luxury purchases and official employment terms to substantiate his claims.

He sarcastically added that her compensation demand of GH₵10 million was too low, further ridiculing the seriousness of the legal action.

The Origin of the Defamation Dispute

This legal confrontation stems from statements made by Abronye on Net 2 TV on March 26, 2025. He alleged that Mogtari, having become wealthy and arrogant, now enjoys undue privileges due to her ties to the presidency.

Mogtari’s legal team argues that these remarks were false, malicious, and damaging to her reputation and personal life.

Lawyers Demand Public Apology and GH₵10 Million in Damages

In a letter dated April 3, 2025, from R.O. Solomon Consulting, Mogtari’s legal counsel demanded a retraction, apology, and GH₵10 million in compensation.

They stated the claims had caused emotional distress and reputational harm, especially due to their widespread circulation on platforms like Net 2 TV, GhanaWeb, MyJoyOnline, Channel One TV, and Citi FM.

“This is a deliberate attack on her character,” the letter noted, warning of imminent legal action should Abronye fail to comply.

Legal Battle Looms as Deadline Approaches

Joyce Bawah Mogtari’s legal team insists that the defamatory statements must be publicly retracted across all media platforms where they aired. If their demands are ignored, they are prepared to initiate court proceedings.

This developing situation highlights the growing tension between political figures and the role of media in shaping public narratives and legal outcomes.
