Former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has revealed how former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo abandoned her after assigning her to audit the Ghana School Feeding Program.
Akufo-Addo Ordered the Audit But Distanced Himself Later
Speaking on Peace FM, Adwoa Safo disclosed that Akufo-Addo personally tasked her to investigate the program. However, after she uncovered severe corruption cases, he withdrew his support, leaving her to deal with the backlash alone.
She stated: “Nana Akufo-Addo cannot deny how he betrayed me after he tasked me to work for him. He ordered an audit into the School Feeding Program, which I was in charge of. However, he distanced himself from me after backlash over the corruption I uncovered.”
Pressure to Approve Corrupt Payments
Adwoa Safo further disclosed that she was pressured to sign off payments for questionable transactions but refused, fearing she would be held accountable after a change in government.
“Several documents were brought before me to sign so that the money could be disbursed among them, but I refused. If power changed hands, I would be the one chased, and it would bring shame to my father and my family.”
Nana Akufo-Addo’s Alleged Inaction on Corruption Reports
The former Dome-Kwabenya MP insisted that Akufo-Addo was fully aware of the corruption cases she exposed but failed to take any serious action.
