For the first time in years, Ghanaians and Africans at large have reportedly seen the face behind the name Anas Aremeyaw A. , one of the continent’s most renowned investigative journalists.

This follows Anas’ recent legal victory in the United States, where he won an $18 million defamation lawsuit against former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong.

Anas Wins U.S. Defamation Case

A jury in Essex County, New Jersey, ruled in Anas’ favor, after he filed a lawsuit on May 17, 2022, against Kennedy Agyapong and media personality Frederick Asamoah. The case centered on defamatory statements made during an episode of The Daddy Fred Show, a U.S.-based online program.

During the show, Kennedy Agyapong allegedly accused Anas of being a criminal, a thief, and responsible for the murder of journalist Ahmed Suale—a member of Anas’ investigative team who was assassinated in 2019 following the release of the Number 12 documentary, which exposed corruption in Ghanaian football.

Following the court ruling, an image said to be that of Anas Aremeyaw Anas surfaced online, sparking widespread debate. While some social media users believe the image is authentic, others claim it could be a decoy or disguise.
