The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has confirmed a major update for the upcoming 2024 elections. Following the unfortunate passing of its previous presidential candidate, Akua Donkor, the party has nominated Mr. Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as “Roman Fada,” to take up the flagbearer position. In a formal letter dated November 4, 2024, addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, GFP General Secretary George Afful announced the nomination of Mr. Appiah Kubi, a popular radio personality, as the new leader to contest in the presidential race.

The letter, which responds to a request from the Electoral Commission (EC) referencing Article 404(4) of the 1992 Constitution, indicates that the GFP completed the nomination process within the stipulated 10-day timeframe. Mr. Philip Appiah Kubi’s nomination is expected to invigorate the party’s campaign as he brings both media experience and public appeal. The party has assured the EC that all necessary documents will be filed promptly, allowing them to move forward without any disruption to their electoral plans.
