President Akufo-Addo’s Convoy involved In Tragic Fatal Accident on Accra-Kumasi Highway

On Sunday, 19th May 2024, a tragic accident occurred involving several vehicles from the President’s convoy along the Bunso-Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway. The convoy was returning from Kumasi after a weekend of events attended by the President.

In this unfortunate incident, Mr. Kwesi Atta, one of the drivers, lost his life. Additionally, several close protection and police officers from the President’s security detail sustained various injuries. They received initial treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital and are now being evacuated to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for further treatment and observation. The accident resulted in several vehicles in the convoy being completely wrecked.

Thankfully, the President is safe and unharmed, as he traveled to Accra via military aircraft. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured officers. Further updates will be provided as we continue to assess the situation.

    University of Ghana Parliament House.

    Over the years, he has led and supported numerous student-centered
    initiatives, including academic tutorials, mentorship programmes,
    welfare interventions, and advocacy campaigns aimed at improving the
    student experience and promoting collective growth.

    As an aspiring President of the University of Ghana Students'
    Representative Council (UGSRC) for the 2026/2027 academic year,
    Abraham seeks to champion a vision centered on student welfare,
    accountability, inclusiveness, innovation, and effective representation.
