Sole University in Africa that offers a degree in herbal medicine.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) becomes the first university in the continent of Africa to introduce a Bachelors Degree in Herbal Medicine.

Herbal Medicine is the study of or practice of the medicinal and therapeutic use of plants. In Africa, no university offers this course although there are lots of practitioners in the country.

In KNUST, Medical herbalists are health care professionals who as part of their training, pursue a four year degree program (BSc. Herbal Medicine) at the faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, KNUST.

The cut of points of this course is aggregate 13. A General Science background with specific electives in biology is a requirement for being selected for the course.
