Visually impaired lecturer appointed.
University of Cape Coast(UCC) has appointed their first ever visually impaired lecturer. Carruthers Tetteh, the first visually impaired lecturer at the University of Cape Coast’s Faculty of Law, began teaching Criminal Law and the Ghana Legal System in December 2023.
Despite losing his sight at age 11 due to a drug reaction, Mr. Tetteh persevered, graduating with first-class degrees in English and History in 2015 and Law later on. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “In 2002, I lost my sight as a result of a drug reaction when I was in primary five and at age 11.”

Despite challenges, he expressed his lifelong passion for law and advocacy for the less privileged. Mr. Tetteh’s knowledge of Criminal Law won the admiration of his peers, and he strives to set the right pace as the first visually impaired student admitted to the Law Faculty at UCC.
