Bryan Acheampong will contest NPP presidential slot – Appiah-Kubi hints

Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has strongly hinted that Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the sitting Member of Parliament for Abetifi, is preparing to enter the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidacy.
In a recent media interaction, Appiah-Kubi described Dr. Acheampong as the “ideal candidate” to lead the NPP into the next general elections, praising his leadership qualities, intellect, and entrepreneurial experience.

“The task on our hearts is to present a great candidate who can redeem our party, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong is preparing himself for that mission,” Appiah-Kubi said. “He will speak for himself in due course, but I am only a messenger. From what I know, he is the one—and his work speaks volumes.”
Appiah-Kubi highlighted Dr. Acheampong’s unique blend of qualities, which he believes position him above other potential contenders in the NPP.
“If we are looking for a candidate with intellectual prowess, Bryan is the one. If we want a successful business mogul, he’s that too. So with him, we’re killing two birds with one stone… he is a symbol of victory,”he declared.

Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a former Minister for Food and Agriculture and a respected entrepreneur, has been steadily building political capital within the party and the broader national landscape. His name has frequently surfaced in internal discussions about the party’s future leadership.
Appiah-Kubi also acknowledged the internal rifts currently plaguing the NPP and stressed the need for unity if the party is to regain power in the 2028 general elections.
“The NPP has what it takes to develop Ghana. But first, we must unite. Bryan Acheampong is someone who can bridge the divides and revitalise the base,” he added.

While Dr. Acheampong has not officially declared his intentions, this strong endorsement from Appiah-Kubi is likely to intensify speculation and stir conversations within party ranks and beyond.
As Ghana’s political scene begins to heat up post-2024, all eyes will be on the NPP’s next move—and whether Dr. Bryan Acheampong will step into the spotlight.
