We need to address everything that went wrong in 2024 elections – Bawumia to NPP

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on party members to confront and resolve the internal issues that led to their defeat in the last general elections.
Speaking during a meeting with supporters and executives from five constituencies in the Bono East Region, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the party’s future success depends on unity, self-reflection, and renewed purpose.

“The NPP belongs to all of us, and we need to address everything that went wrong in the electioneering,” he said during the engagement, which brought together members from the Atebubu-Amantin, Sene East, Sene West, Pru East, and Pru West constituencies.
As part of his ongoing Thank You Tour, Dr. Bawumia visited Atebubu last Friday, where he urged the party’s base — from polling station executives to the council of elders — to stay solid and determined despite recent setbacks.

While expressing optimism about the NPP’s chances in the 2028 elections, he warned that winning back power would require a coordinated and formidable effort among all party structures. “We must remain formidable and resolute,” he stressed, underscoring the need for stronger collaboration among constituency executives, electoral coordinators, patrons, and grassroots members.

In a conciliatory gesture, Dr. Bawumia also extended an apology to party members who felt sidelined or mistreated during the last campaign cycle. “We need to forgive each other’s offences and forge ahead in unity,” he urged, highlighting the need to heal internal divisions.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by several key party figures, including Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Tano North MP Dr. Gideon Boako, and NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong. Also present were National Third Vice Chairman Masawudu Osman, former NPP Communications Director Nana Akomea, and Dr. Anyass Ibrahim, former CEO of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo).
