Tragic Crash on Juaso-Nkawkaw Highway Claims 15 Lives, Including Pastor’s Children

In a devastating road accident on the Juaso-Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway , fifteen lives have been lost and four others critically injured following a violent head-on collision between a Ford Transit bus and a fuel tanker.
The heartbreaking incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, when a fuel tanker traveling from Kumasi to Accra reportedly burst a tyre while overtaking another vehicle. The driver lost control, resulting in a direct collision with the oncoming bus transporting members of the youth ministry of the Saviour Church in Obogu.
Eyewitnesses and emergency responders say the crash impact was so severe that the Ford Transit’s engine was completely dislodged. The vehicle was carrying young congregants aged between 4 and 21, who were returning from a religious retreat held in Koforidua.

Tragically, among the deceased are the two children of the Head Pastor of the Obogu Saviour Church. According to Elder Kofi Baah, a leader of the church who spoke to Adom News, the youth had embarked on their journey on Friday to attend a congress in Koforidua.
“We were home when we received a distress call that there had been an accident involving our youth group,” he recounted. “We rushed to Juaso Hospital only to find that fifteen of our children had died. Some parents have lost two or even three of their children. It’s a pain no words can describe.”

Emergency response units, including the Juaso MTTD, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ambulance Services from Konongo and Juaso, arrived promptly at the scene to provide assistance and transport the injured to the hospital. As of now, fifteen bodies are in the mortuary, and four others are being treated at the Emergency Unit in critical condition.
