Together, We’ll Make the NPP Stronger and Better – Dr Bawumia
Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has made a heartfelt call to all members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to unite and rebuild the party following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking during an engagement with former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) from across Ghana on Monday, June 23, 2025, in Accra, the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate emphasized the need for collective action and renewed dedication to the party’s values.
“Our quest to bounce back requires the collective efforts of all, and I urged my fellow patriots to join hands so we realise this objective together,” Dr Bawumia posted on Facebook following the meeting.
He further expressed gratitude for the massive show of support from the MMDCEs:
“I am grateful for the overwhelming number of MMDCEs who have declared an intention to campaign for and support me. Together, we will make the great New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) stronger and better.”
MMDCEs unanimously back Bawumia for 2028 presidency
After the closed-door session, the former MMDCEs held a press conference, officially endorsing Dr Bawumia as the most viable candidate to lead the NPP in the upcoming 2028 presidential elections.
“Following extensive consultations with all aspirants, and after a thorough assessment of their vision, competence, and commitment to the NPP’s progress, we are convinced beyond any doubt that Dr Bawumia is the best candidate to lead the NPP to victory in 2028,” their statement read.
They emphasized that their endorsement was not just ceremonial but a “strategic and operational commitment.” According to the group, 95% of them had previously served as constituency or regional executives, with some boasting over 16 years of experience.
“We possess an intimate understanding of the NPP’s structures, dynamics, and electoral needs. We will deploy this experience to ensure Dr. Bawumia’s message resonates in every corner of Ghana,” they added.
With endorsements from party veterans and growing momentum, Dr Bawumia’s camp appears poised to play a central role in shaping the NPP’s future direction and political revival.
