Surprise NACOC Raid in Efiekuma Leads to Multiple Arrests and Drug Seizures

Takoradi, Ghana | April 2025
Early Morning Operation Shakes Takoradi Suburb
A special operations unit from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) headquarters in Accra carried out a surprise raid in Efiekuma, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region. The unexpected operation, conducted in the early hours, led to the arrest of several individuals and the seizure of yet-to-be-disclosed quantities of suspected narcotics.
Intelligence-Led Operation Targets Local Networks
According to credible sources within NACOC, the raid followed weeks of intelligence-gathering and surveillance in the area. Efiekuma had recently emerged as a hotspot for suspected drug activity, prompting the Commission to move swiftly.
“We acted on actionable intelligence gathered over a period of time,” said a NACOC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “This operation is part of our commitment to rooting out drug distribution networks, especially in our communities.”
Arrests Made, Substances Seized

Though the specific number of suspects arrested and types of substances seized have not yet been officially confirmed, NACOC says the individuals are currently in custody and assisting with further investigations. Items seized during the raid have been secured for forensic testing.
Public Urged to Stay Alert and Report
NACOC is urging the public to stay vigilant and support the ongoing national effort against drug trafficking. The Commission has also renewed its call for community members to report suspicious activities through its confidential hotline.
NACOC Intensifies Nationwide Crackdown
The Efiekuma raid forms part of NACOC’s broader strategy to tackle narcotics distribution across Ghana. Recent operations have increasingly targeted urban and peri-urban areas, reflecting a shift in criminal networks.
“We are expanding our reach beyond the obvious hubs to areas where drug activity may be growing under the radar,” the NACOC officer added.
Looking Ahead
This operation marks another decisive move in Ghana’s ongoing war against narcotic drug abuse and trafficking. More updates are expected as investigations continue.
