YEA Teams Up with Shatta Wale’s SHAXI to Create Thousands of Jobs for Ghanaian Youth

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has partnered with award-winning dancehall artist and entrepreneur Shatta Wale to drive youth employment in Ghana through his SHAXI ride-hailing platform.

This partnership, aimed at reducing the country’s youth unemployment rate, is already gaining traction as a model of public-private collaboration that combines influence, technology, and real-world solutions.

GHC500 Monthly Fuel Support for SHAXI Driver

As part of the initiative, YEA will support the first 2,000 SHAXI-registered vehicles with fuel coupons worth GH¢500 each month for six months. This subsidy is designed to ease operational costs for young drivers and encourage more youth to get involved in the ride-hailing business.

The move aligns with SHAXI’s vision of creating sustainable income opportunities for Ghanaian youth, especially in the transportation sector.

Additional Incentives for 24-Hour SHAXI Operations

SHAXI vehicles that operate around the clock will receive even more benefits. This strategy ensures that each vehicle can employ at least two drivers working in shifts — effectively doubling the employment impact.

YEA CEO Malik Basintale revealed that the collaboration would also include the rollout of 150 electric vehicles on the SHAXI platform. These EVs, secured through private support, are part of an eco-friendly solution to modern urban transport while furthering job creation goals.

A Vision Backed by Action

Shatta Wale, who launched SHAXI in 2021 to provide jobs for the youth, expressed his commitment to the partnership, highlighting how the project goes beyond ride-hailing — it’s about empowering a generation.

“We’re building something that will last. Something that will give young people the opportunity to take charge of their lives,” he noted during a recent meeting with the YEA team.

Malik Basintale echoed similar sentiments: “This is how we create sustainable employment — not just talk, but action backed by strategic partnerships.”
