Prof. Douglas Boateng Launches Landmark Books to Ignite Africa’s Industrial Future

In a moment poised to shape Africa’s industrial destiny, internationally respected author and supply chain governance advocate Professor Douglas Boateng has launched two groundbreaking books: Compendium of Supply Chain Management Terms and Strategic Sourcing and Industrialisation.

The official launch, hosted at Exclusive Books in Rosebank Mall, Johannesburg, in partnership with the University of Johannesburg Press (UJ Press), signalled more than just a literary event — it marked the dawn of a Pan-African awakening powered by home-grown knowledge and strategic collaboration.

“These are not just books; they are instruments of nation-building,” Professor Boateng declared. “No nation can industrialise without mastering strategic sourcing and supply chain management. Africa must think, plan, and act with purpose.”

A Continental Collaboration for Transformation

Exclusive Books — the continent’s largest bookseller — and UJ Press — one of Africa’s top university-affiliated publishers — joined forces to host this defining occasion, reflecting a shared commitment to intellectual empowerment and long-term continental transformation.

The launch event was recorded for broadcast across West AfricaGhana, and other regions, spotlighting South African publishing leadership and bringing transformative African-authored knowledge to a broader audience.

Key Voices Championing Africa’s Industrial Rise

Among the notable attendees was Ronald Malazi, Managing Director of Commerce Edge South Africa, the continent’s largest privately-owned supply chain training institution.

“The Africa we dream of will be built by those who learn together and work together,” Malazi said. “We must continue sharing ideas, building capacity, and advancing for the common good.”

Wikus van Zyl, Manager of UJ Press, reinforced the event’s deeper mission:

“At UJ Press, we publish with a purpose. Our mission is to empower minds and shape meaningful progress.”

Shylock Matsunyane, Assistant Manager at Exclusive Books Rosebank, captured the spirit of the launch:

“It’s an honour to launch books that don’t just sit on shelves but help move a continent. We’re proud to be part of this legacy.”

A Pan-African Roadmap for Industrialisation

As part of a bold long-term strategy, Professor Boateng, along with industrial partners, announced plans for a Pan-African Industrialisation and Strategic Sourcing Roadshow. This initiative will span multiple countries, targeting youth, women, executives, and policymakers through public lectures, executive sessions, and knowledge-sharing forums.

The roadshow aims to build local capacity, inspire industrial change, and foster a united push towards Africa’s self-determined destiny.

A Call to Action

The event concluded with select attendees receiving personally signed copies of both books — a symbolic gesture reinforcing the importance of accessible, practical knowledge in shaping Africa’s future.

This was not merely a book launch; it was a continental call to action. A rallying cry for strategic thought, industrial resolve, and united progress toward Africa’s long-envisioned transformation.
