President Mahama Assigns National Security Ministry to Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak

President John Dramani Mahama has officially assigned ministerial responsibility for national security to the Minister of the Interior, Mohammed-Muntaka Mubarak. The announcement was made public on Friday, March 7, 2025, through a letter read on the floor of Parliament by the Speaker of the House.

In the letter, President Mahama invoked Section 64 of the Securities and Intelligence Act, 2020 (Act 1030), formally communicating his decision to Parliament.

“Pursuant to Section 64 of the Securities and Intelligence Act, 2020 (Act 1030), I convey to the House that I have assigned ministerial responsibility for national security to the Minister of the Interior, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak,” the letter stated.

With this assignment, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak will now oversee national security matters in addition to his current duties at the Interior Ministry.
