ER: Police in Nsawam-Adoagyiri arrest 1 person for unlawful possession of firearms

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at Nsawam-Adoagyiri in Ghana’s Eastern Region, following a series of violent incidents and reprisal attacks that have rocked the township in recent days.

The suspect, identified as Abdul Rauf Salami, a native of Adoagyiri Zongo, was apprehended during an intensified police operation that targeted all key entry and exit points in and around Adoagyiri. According to authorities, the operation was part of a strategic effort to quell unrest and restore order to the embattled community.

“We are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of Adoagyiri,” a police spokesperson stated.

During the arrest, law enforcement officers retrieved a cache of dangerous weapons, including:

  • Two pump-action guns
  • Sixty-four rounds of AA ammunition
  • A cutlass
  • A knife
  • An ammunition vest

These items were seized as evidence and are being held as part of ongoing investigations.
