NPP’s Bold Reboot: Over 5,500 Delegates Gather in Accra to Chart a New Path After 2024 Defeat

In a powerful display of party unity and strategic recalibration, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is hosting its highly anticipated National Delegates Conference today at the University of Ghana Stadium. The event brings together over 5,500 delegates from all 16 regions of Ghana, marking a significant turning point for the party as it seeks to rebuild and re-energize after its 2024 electoral defeat.
Held under the resonant theme “Rebuilding Together with our Values,” the conference is more than a gathering it’s a moment of reckoning. Party members are being called to reflect on core principles, strengthen internal cohesion, and lay the groundwork for a political resurgence.
Joseph Osei Owusu, Chairman of the Planning Committee, shared exclusive insights with Channel One News ahead of the event. According to him, the conference will deliberate on over 50 consolidated motions derived from a comprehensive review of more than 300 proposed constitutional amendments submitted by party members nationwide.
“We received an overwhelming number of proposals over 300. What we’ve done is to streamline and consolidate them into just over 50 motions. Each motion is carefully structured to represent multiple ideas around a single theme. Delegates will vote on these, shaping the next phase of the party,” Osei Owusu explained.
He added that the motions have been collated into a detailed booklet, which has already been vetted by the National Executive Committee. Copies will be distributed to all delegates before voting begins.
“All of the motions will be considered, and we expect to conclude the entire process by 4 PM,” he stated confidently.
Today’s conference is widely viewed as a critical juncture in the NPP’s political evolution. With grassroots support, institutional restructuring, and a renewed vision at the forefront, the decisions made at this gathering could redefine the party’s constitutional framework and strategic direction heading into future elections.
