Government Confirms August 4 Not a Public Holiday

The Ministry of the Interior has officially clarified that Monday, August 4, 2025, will not be observed as a public holiday. This announcement comes amid widespread public confusion and speculation over whether the day would be declared a statutory break.

The clarification, issued through a press release, urged the general public to disregard any viral messages or posts suggesting otherwise. Citizens and institutions are therefore advised to proceed with normal working and business activities on the day.


No Holiday for Founders’ Day This Year

August 4 is traditionally observed as Founders’ Day in Ghana, commemorating the contributions of Ghana’s forefathers in the independence struggle. However, this year, the government has chosen not to grant a holiday on the date. No reasons have yet been publicly given for this decision.
