IIPGH Celebrates 8 Years of ICT Impact with Leadership Transition and Expanded Digital Agenda

The Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGH) has commemorated its 8th anniversary with a ceremony themed “Transforming Lives Through ICT: 8 Years of Impact and Inspiration.” The event brought together industry leaders, government representatives, and ICT professionals to celebrate achievements and outline the institute’s future vision.

Leadership Transition: David Gowu Hands Over to Richard Kafui Amanfu
A key moment of the anniversary was the official transition of leadership, as Mr. David Gowu handed over the role of Executive Director to Mr. Richard Kafui Amanfu. Mr. Gowu, who has led IIPGH since its inception, was praised for his efforts in advancing digital literacy, professional development, and ICT policy advocacy in Ghana.

Growing Membership & Strengthening ICT Regulations
The event also included the induction of new IIPGH members, reflecting the institute’s growing influence in Ghana’s ICT sector.
In his keynote address, Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, Acting Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), stressed the importance of robust ICT regulations to enhance professional standards and support innovation.

Government’s Commitment to Digital Transformation
The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, represented by Dr. Samuel Antwi-Gyekyi, announced key government initiatives to boost Ghana’s digital economy:
✅ Expansion of broadband infrastructure
✅ Digital Jobs Initiative – targeting 300,000 new jobs
✅ One Million Coders Program – equipping Ghanaian youth with essential digital skills

He also reaffirmed the government’s support for IIPGH initiatives, particularly in cybersecurity awareness, digital literacy, and ICT skills development.
Artificial Intelligence & Ghana’s Digital Future
Dr. Stephane Nwolley, ICT Chair at the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), highlighted the critical role of artificial intelligence (AI) in Ghana’s digital transformation. He called for greater investment in AI-driven solutions, local data processing, and infrastructure to position Ghana as a leader in the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions.

Looking Ahead: TICON Africa Conference 2025
The event also previewed the upcoming TICON Africa Conference, which will bring together over 600 ICT professionals and leaders from across the continent to foster collaboration and shape ICT policies.
As IIPGH enters its next phase, the institute remains committed to empowering ICT professionals, driving digital innovation, and shaping policies that enhance Ghana’s global competitiveness in technology.
