Kwesi Pratt dares NPP MP to prove how Mahama intends to run for a 3rd term

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr, has challenged the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, to prove claims that President John Dramani Mahama intends to run for a third term.
According to Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the NPP, the ongoing move to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo is linked to an alleged plot by the NDC to pave the way for Mahama to contest again.
Kodua claimed this revolves around the interpretation of Article 66(2) of the Constitution, suggesting that some people believe the two-term limit applies only to consecutive terms.

Kwesi Pratt: “Show Us the Evidence!”
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Kwesi Pratt threw down the gauntlet.
“Who told you the president intends to run for a third term? Where did you get that information? What is your basis for even dreaming that one day President Mahama will declare for a third term? So give me the basis,” he demanded.
Pratt continued, “Your own General Secretary and leaders said this is not a matter of law but politics. If it’s politics, why are you wasting our time in court? Why are you demonstrating over something you admit is not constitutional?”

Dr. Kingsley Nyarko Defends NPP’s Concerns
In response, Dr. Kingsley Nyarko explained that concerns over Mahama’s possible third term are based on the ambiguity surrounding Article 66(2) of the Constitution.
“For some time I have been thinking about the possibility of it being done by him… some people have argued that Article 66(2) might need interpretation — is it two terms consecutively or two terms apart?” Nyarko argued.

He added, “The demonstration is about the removal of the CJ and the onslaught on the judiciary. So if people are thinking about this constitutional provision, you don’t say they are dreaming.”
Manasseh Azure: “Mahama Is Too Decent for That”
Award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has also weighed in, dismissing the claims against Mahama.
In a brief post on his social media handle, Manasseh wrote:
“I think John Mahama is too decent to contemplate a third term.”
His comment adds to the growing debate over the alleged third-term plot, which has sparked heated exchanges between the NPP and opposition figures.
