Kusasi youth and Police reconcile after clashes in Bawku

In a significant step toward restoring calm in the Kusaug Traditional Area, the youth of Kusasi and the Ghana Police Service have reconciled following a series of recent violent confrontations.
This breakthrough comes after the intervention of the Zug-ran of Kusaug, Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, who called for peace and dialogue between the two groups. The reconciliation process was facilitated by the Kusaug Advisory Council.

Successful Peace Talks and New Initiatives
A statement issued by the Zug-ran Palace on April 19 confirmed that peace talks between the youth leaders and local police authorities had reached a positive outcome.
Following the agreement, the Kusasi youth have launched a sensitisation campaign across the six districts and the municipality within Kusaug. The campaign is focused on promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening collaboration with law enforcement to ensure law and order in the area.
Zug-ran Commends Maturity and Cooperation
The Zug-ran praised the youth for their sense of patriotism and understanding, as well as the professionalism displayed by the police during the reconciliation process.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the youth for their understanding and their willingness to embrace peace,”

He also emphasized that the peaceful outcome would not have been possible without the cooperation of the police personnel involved.
A New Chapter for Kusaug
This development signals a renewed commitment to peace, unity, and collaboration in the Kusaug area.
The ongoing sensitisation campaign aims to rebuild trust between the youth and security forces, creating a stronger foundation for sustained peace and development.
The Zug-ran’s leadership has been widely lauded, with many commending his proactive role in mediating tensions and guiding the community towards stability and harmony.
