Kennedy Agyapong Officially Declares Bid for NPP Flagbearer Race

Assin Central MP and outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has officially declared his intention to contest the NPP flagbearer position ahead of the party’s next presidential primaries. The announcement, which ends months of speculation, was made during a press briefing on Tuesday, where Agyapong outlined his vision for a “bold and honest” Ghana.

Addressing party members and media, he said, “I’m ready to lead this great party and serve Ghana with integrity, truth, and action. The time has come for strong leadership that puts the people first.” He emphasized his commitment to reviving patriotism, industrializing the economy, and curbing corruption.

Campaign Built on Patriotism, Accountability, and Job Creation

Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign message centers around transparency, discipline, and job creation, positioning himself as a candidate who is unafraid to confront Ghana’s systemic challenges. Known for his no-nonsense political style, Agyapong pledged to restore public trust and inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs through reforms in education, tax systems, and national development projects.

The flagbearer race is expected to be highly competitive, with several other prominent names in the NPP, including former ministers and national executives, also expected to contest. As the 2028 general election draws closer, the NPP’s internal selection will be critical in determining the direction of the party post-Akufo-Addo.
