Karim Zito Set to Take Over Asante Kotoko After Prosper Ogum’s Exit

Asante Kotoko SC are reportedly in advanced talks to appoint veteran coach Abdul Karim Zito as interim head coach following the sacking of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Sources close to the Porcupine Warriors confirm that discussions are ongoing, and Zito—known for his tactical acumen and strong track record with Ghana’s youth teams—is the leading candidate to steady the club during this transitional period.
Ogum was relieved of his duties yesterday, April 18, after a string of poor results left the club struggling to meet its season objectives. His second spell at Kotoko ended abruptly, despite guiding the team to a top-four finish in the first half of the Ghana Premier League season.
A Familiar Face with Proven Pedigree

Karim Zito, who has previously coached Kotoko and led Ghana’s U-20 team to continental glory in 2021, is widely respected for his calm leadership and ability to groom young talent. His potential return to Kotoko is expected to bring much-needed stability and experience as the club seeks to bounce back.
Zito has been without a club role since concluding his tenure with the Ghana Football Association’s youth setup, making him available for an interim assignment.
What’s Next for Asante Kotoko?
If appointed, Zito is expected to lead Kotoko through the remainder of the Ghana Premier League season while the club continues its search for a long-term head coach. Fans are hopeful that his leadership can revive their fortunes as the team eyes a strong finish.
Official confirmation is expected in the coming days.
