“I’m Not Jesus Christ” – Hearts of Oak Coach Vows to Respond to Disrespectful Journalists

Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has made it clear that he will not tolerate disrespect or personal attacks from journalists, asserting that he will respond firmly to any insults.
Coach Ouattara’s Strong Warning to the Media
In a candid interview with Accra-based Hot FM, Ouattara expressed his frustration with what he described as growing unprofessionalism among some media members.
“If you insult me somewhere and I hear it, or you stand before me and speak out of line, I’m not Jesus Christ; I won’t just let it go. I will respond,” Ouattara said, according to 3News.
Hearts of Oak have faced a challenging season, leading to heightened media scrutiny, which Ouattara believes sometimes crosses the line into personal attacks.
Open to Criticism but Not Insults

The coach emphasized that he welcomes constructive criticism, noting that many journalists criticize his tactics and decisions professionally without resorting to insults.
“There are journalists who criticize me for a whole week without insulting me, and when we meet, I still speak with them because I know they’re just doing their job,” Ouattara explained in an interview captured by YEN.com.gh.
However, he stressed that disrespect and insults will not be tolerated, signaling a more assertive approach in dealing with journalists who cross professional boundaries.
A Season Full of Pressure
Hearts of Oak currently sit sixth on the Ghana Premier League table, a position that has fueled criticism from fans and the media alike. Amid these challenges, Ouattara compared his experience to Ghana’s president, stating:
“Akufo-Addo and I were the two most insulted people in Ghana in 2024,” he humorously remarked, according to Gary Al-Smith’s Facebook page.
Looking Ahead
As Hearts of Oak push to finish the season strongly, Ouattara’s comments highlight the tough balance between media freedom and respect for public figures. His firm stance suggests a future where he will more actively challenge unprofessional journalism.
