Enrique’s Best Wishes to Kylian Mbappé as Departure Looms”

On Sunday once again, Kylian Mbappé (25) found himself sidelined in the starting lineup for a Ligue 1 fixture, this time under the management of Luís Enrique. The French star was only brought on for the final 17 minutes in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-2 draw against Stade de Reims.

Acknowledging Mbappé’s reduced role, Luís Enrique is already planning for a future without him, emphasizing the need to adapt to playing without the prolific forward. Despite being a crucial figure in European competitions, Mbappé is being utilized more sparingly in domestic league matches.

Amidst reports of Mbappé informing PSG of his intent to leave at the end of the season, he found himself benched against FC Nantes. While he did start against Stade Rennais and former club AS Monaco, a half-time substitution in the latter game led to “constructive” face-to-face talks between Luís Enrique and Mbappé.

Despite a decisive performance in the midweek UEFA Champions League clash against Real Sociedad, Mbappé returned to the bench on Sunday. His late cameo couldn’t secure a win, resulting in PSG’s third consecutive draw in Ligue 1. In a post-match interview, Prime Video Sport questioned Luís Enrique about his management of Mbappé.

Responding in his usual elusive manner, Luís Enrique praised Mbappé as an “incredible player and an incredible person,” expressing his best wishes. However, it appears Mbappé is now relegated to the role of a squad player, at least in Ligue 1, for the remainder of the season.
