The family and children of the late Madam Gertrude Essie Quashigah, former National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), have expressed deep disappointment over recent allegations made byHon. Sarah Adwoa Safo regarding supposed mismanagement of the programme during their mother’s tenure.
In a statement signed by Isaac Aidoo, Esq., the family emphasized that Madam Quashigah served with integrity, dedication, and selflessness from 2019 until her passing in 2023, overseeing significant improvements in school nutrition and welfare.
“It is deeply painful that such unfounded and unfortunate accusations are being levelled against our mother at a time when she is no longer present to speak for herself.”
The family also highlighted the long-standing relationship between the Quashigah and Safo families, describing Adwoa Safo’s claims as disheartening and unjustified.
Call for Retraction and Apology
The statement urged Hon. Adwoa Safo to retract her remarks, issue an unqualified apology, and refrain from making further statements that tarnish Madam Quashigah’s legacy.
“We urge her to consider the pain such remarks have caused to our grieving family and to all who hold Madam Gertrude Quashigah’s memory dear.”
The family concluded by calling on Ghanaians to honour and uphold the legacy of Madam Gertrude Quashigah, a woman who dedicated her life to the welfare of Ghanaian children and national service.
