Hohoe United Secures Historic Promotion to Ghana Premier League

Volta Region club secures top-flight status with dominant season
Hohoe United Football Club has clinched promotion to the Ghana Premier League for the first time in its history, following a commanding 3-1 victory over Inter Allies at the Hohoe Sports Stadium. This triumph crowns them champions of the Division One League Zone Three for the 2024/25 season.
The team’s success was sealed with goals from Anass Ganiu, Faruk Mohammed, and captain Safian Osman, securing their 23rd win of the season. Hohoe United concluded the campaign with an impressive 69 points from 29 matches, boasting 23 wins, four draws, and only three losses.
Established in 2023 after acquiring Liberty Professionals’ Division One League slot, Hohoe United has rapidly ascended under the leadership of former Hohoe MP John-Peter Amewu. The club’s swift rise reflects a commitment to excellence and community support.
Public Relations Officer Kenneth Asante attributed the team’s home success not only to the quality of the astro turf but also to the unwavering support of the fans, stating, “The home always plays the advantage; the advantage is not only about the pitch but the number 12 player. The number 12 player are the fans of Hohoe United.”

Hohoe United now joins Swedru All Blacks, winners of Zone Two, in the Ghana Premier League for the 2025/26 season. The final promotion spot will be determined through a playoff between Real Tamale United and Techiman Eleven Wonders.
