Empowering Move: Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings Appointed to Pan African Parliament

In a significant boost for Ghana’s continental representation, the Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has been officially appointed as a member of Ghana’s delegation to the Pan African Parliament (PAP), the legislative arm of the African Union (AU).

Her inclusion aligns with the AU’s requirement for gender representation, which mandates that each member state’s delegation includes at least one woman. Dr Agyeman Rawlings’ extensive experience in governance and national security positions her as a strong voice in the regional legislative body tasked with promoting democracy, good governance, and the harmonisation of laws across Africa.

Currently, she chairs the Committee on Security and Intelligence in Ghana’s Parliament and serves on several other critical committees including Defence and Interior, Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions, and the Petitions Committee. Her leadership roles extend beyond Parliament, as she also chairs the Ghana-Algeria Friendship Association and co-chairs the Women Legislators in Defence (WLID) Network.

Beyond politics, Dr Agyeman-Rawlings is a medical doctor renowned for her advocacy in humanitarian efforts, environmental protection, and conflict resolution. Her appointment is seen as a positive step toward strengthening Ghana’s influence within the African Union and enhancing legislative collaboration across the continent.

Her expertise and commitment are expected to bring renewed energy to Ghana’s voice in PAP, further advancing the country’s interests and contributing meaningfully to shaping Africa’s legislative future.
