“You Have Started Well” – Otumfuo Commends President Mahama’s Leadership

Asantehene encourages humility and national service in early days of Mahama’s administration

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for what he describes as a commendable start to his administration. Speaking during a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House, Otumfuo stated that within just six months in office, President Mahama has shown strong leadership and a commitment to good governance.

“You have started well. The things you’re putting in place are commendable,” Otumfuo remarked.


A Reminder to Fulfil Promises to Ghanaians

Otumfuo used the occasion to remind President Mahama of his campaign promises, urging him to keep them at the forefront of his governance strategy.

“I pray that God guides you to fulfil your mandate. Six months in, you deserve applause for what you’ve done, but even more will be expected of you in the coming years,” he said.

The Asantehene emphasized that Ghanaians are watching closely and will hold the President accountable to his pledges.

Stay Humble and Serve, Otumfuo Advises

In a heartfelt call for humility, Otumfuo urged President Mahama to remain grounded and remember that leadership is about service—not self-glorification.

“This position is not for personal glory. Let your humility, which I’ve always admired in you, remain. You’re the leader Ghanaians chose; serve them well.”


Caution to Ministers: Don’t Let Power Change You

Otumfuo also had strong words for the President’s appointees. He warned ministers and public officials against allowing power to change their attitudes, urging them to support the President faithfully.

“Don’t forget yourselves. Ghanaians trusted President Mahama—don’t fail him. You know how hard he worked to earn this position.”
