Court Rejects Ken Ofori-Atta’s Bid to Quash Arrest Warrant

The High Court has dismissed an application by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta seeking to nullify an arrest warrant issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). The warrant, which stems from an ongoing corruption investigation, was upheld by the court after legal arguments were heard on the matter.
Mr. Ofori-Atta’s legal team had petitioned the court to strike out the warrant, arguing procedural flaws and lack of justification. However, the presiding judge ruled that the OSP acted within its mandate and followed due process in issuing the arrest order.
Former Finance Minister Faces Mounting Legal Pressure
The decision marks a significant development in the high-profile investigation involving Ofori-Atta, who served as Ghana’s Finance Minister from 2017 to 2024. While the specific charges or allegations have not been publicly detailed, the OSP’s actions indicate a serious inquiry into the former minister’s conduct in office.
Legal analysts say the court’s ruling affirms the independence of the Special Prosecutor and the judiciary’s readiness to allow accountability mechanisms to run their course. Meanwhile, pressure continues to mount on former officials linked to controversial deals and alleged financial mismanagement.
