Ato Forson engages traders, ‘kayayei’ at Makola ahead of Budget presentation

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has taken a proactive step by engaging directly with market women, head porters (kayayei), and traders at Makola Market ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 Budget presentation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Dr. Forson described the interaction as a privilege, recognizing the immense contribution of these hardworking Ghanaians to the national economy.

“It was a privilege to interact with these hardworking Ghanaians who break their backs daily to support our economy,” he stated.

Accompanied by his Deputy Minister, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the discussion addressed pressing economic concerns such as inflation, taxation, and access to credit for small-scale traders. Dr. Forson assured them that their input would play a critical role in shaping the upcoming budget.

“Their expectations ahead of Budget 2025 will help shape our shared future,” he emphasized.
