The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced November 16, 2026, as the expected date for the payment of outstanding arrears owed to staff promoted under the 2025 promotion exercise.
In a letter dated October 27, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors, the Service explained that efforts were underway with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) to ensure that all affected employees receive their outstanding payments.
GES attributed the delay to the closure of the CAGD’s payment system for the processing of October salaries, which prevented the necessary entries for the promotion arrears from being made within the required period.

However, management indicated that the payment system would be reopened on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, to allow the outstanding information to be entered and processed ahead of the planned payment date.
“The System will be reopened tomorrow, 28th October, 2026 to enable all inputs to be made and facilitate payment to affected staff by 16th November, 2026,” the letter stated.
The Service also assured affected employees that discrepancies discovered in payments made on October 16, 2026, would be addressed to ensure the necessary corrections are made.

GES expressed regret over the delay and its impact on staff awaiting their entitlements.
“Management regrets the delay and the inconvenience caused,” the statement added.
Regional Directors have been instructed to inform all affected staff about the revised payment arrangements to ensure they are aware of the expected date for receiving their outstanding promotion arrears.
