The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged not to interfere in investigations into sexual misconduct allegations against Zakaria Abdulai, headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) and a former Juaben constituency secretary of the party.

NDC General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey said the party would not shield Abdulai if he is found guilty, stressing that anyone found culpable must face the full consequences of the law.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Kwetey called on law enforcement agencies to conduct an independent investigation and establish the facts of the case.

“We do not endorse any such conduct. And we want the law enforcement to do an independent job,” he said.

He assured the public that neither the party nor its government would interfere in the investigation or protect anyone found to have broken the law.

“We assure the world that this party will not in any way interfere. We want the truth to be brought out. As a party and its government, we do not cover anybody,” he stated.

Kwetey said the party would accept the outcome of the investigation, whether it cleared Abdulai or found him guilty.

“If he’s found guilty, he’ll pay the highest price. If he’s not guilty, we’ll be happy for him. So we want the law enforcement to do its own job,” he added.

His comments follow an exposé by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni concerning sexual assault allegations involving the headmaster.

The case is under investigation, with the docket reportedly forwarded to the Attorney-General for further action.

Abdulai has been interdicted from his position as headmaster and has also resigned as Juaben NDC constituency secretary.

The allegations remain subject to the ongoing legal process, and guilt has not been established.
